The Ministry for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, has written a second letter to the Principal Secretary (Agriculture) of all the state governments on 22.3.2017 requesting them to make the arrangements from the government’s organic farming budget for farmers to participate in the Organic World Congress 2017.

APEDA joins OWC as Principal Partner
India’s exclusive export agency managing the exports of certified organic produce from India has agreed to join the OWC as Principal Partner.
The letter states: “In view of considerable significance of OWC being held in India, States are requested to participate in the State Pavilions and nominate the member farmers and PKVY and MODCD-VER clusters for an experience visit to the event. The funds required for logistics, arrangement and registration of farmers may be met from sub-component of seminar/organic farms under the MODCD-VER/PKVY schemes.” Read More

Kerala Agriculture Department under the direct supervision of Shri V.S. Sunilkumar, Kerala Agriculture Minister, held a state-level meeting on May 20, 2017 at the Agriculture University in Trisshur to plan the State’s participation in the Organic World Congress 2017.
Karnataka NGOs working on organic farming met at the Green Path resort in Bengaluru on 14 July to plan their participation in the Organic World Congress. Sahaja Samrudha, representing BBSM, also discussed the participation of 100 seed keepers in the OWC and the logistics including registration and accommodation during the OWC.
The 6-member Congress Steering Committee (OWC) for the Organic World Congress 2017 met at YMCA New Delhi on November 8th 2016. The CSC, together with the organizing committee and the officials of the Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture, addressed the International media on the OWC on November 9th 2016 at 11am.
